Hi, I’m Brad Ames-Thomson, a registered music therapist (RMT) based in Brisbane and the founder of Treefrog Music Therapy. I offer mobile music therapy for children, adolescents, adults, and families.
My approach is psychodynamically informed, meaning I focus on emotional connection, the therapeutic relationship, and the ways music can express what words sometimes cannot. I specialise in working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism, ADHD, and developmental differences.
I hold a Master’s in Music Therapy from the University of Roehampton in London and have worked across a variety of settings, including schools, early childhood programs, mental health services, and disability support, both in the UK and Australia.
With a background in performance and multi-instrumentalism, I bring creativity, sensitivity, and structure to each session. I use singing, drumming, improvisation, and digital tools to help support communication, emotional regulation, and confidence.
I’m a proud member of the Australian Music Therapy Association and committed to evidence-based, client-led practice that meets individuals where they are.
